Our History

The Advisory Group was co-founded in 1997 by Jim Walker.  Jim began his career at big four accounting and consulting firm KPMG Peat Marwick, where he excelled at helping clients solve problems.  He developed an industry specialty in real estate while serving audit and consulting clients.

Jim also became the practice leader for private business consulting.  As partner-in-charge of this practice, Jim headed a group which provided a broad range of business consulting services.  Although the focus was on privately held, medium sized businesses, this group also consulted with large public companies.

Jim left KPMG Peat Marwick and became the CEO of a major real estate company.

Returning to his love of helping people solve problems, Jim co-founded The Advisory Group.  Rather than becoming a large firm, The Advisory Group focuses on providing exceptional advice and service to its clients.  When the opportunity arises, The Advisory Group will bring in Principals or consultants with specific expertise and who are able to effectively assist clients while meeting the standards established by the firm.

The firm has admitted additional principals who personify this type of individual.
